Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a major Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. It marks the triumph of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, symbolizing the power of truth and righteousness. In many parts of India, huge effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran are burnt to signify the destruction of evil. The day also commemorates Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura. Dussehra inspires people to follow the path of virtue, courage, and dharma in their lives.
