Department of Religious Affairs,, Uttar Pradesh, established on December 19, 1985, is dedicated to efficiently managing all affairs related to religious institutions and temples in the state. The department oversees all temples and religious sites, operating under the jurisdiction of the Department of Religious Affairs, U.P.

Objective - The primary objective of the department is to ensure the smooth functioning of religious places in Uttar Pradesh by providing essential facilities such as route management, accommodation, lighting, drinking water, and food services. This commitment aims to enhance the overall experience for visitors to these sacred sites.

At the Government level, the Department of Religious Affairs operates with a single section, guided by the Principal Secretary. The office is located at Bapu Bhawan, Secretariat, Lucknow, serving as the central hub for coordinating and executing several works related to the management of religious institutions and temples in the state.
